My Journey into the Sports Industry
They say if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. But for me, the goal isn't just to love the job—it’s to help drive the business behind the game.
I can still remember the day my athletic career ended. I was sitting in the grey hospital room listening to my orthopedic surgeon tell me playing sports was too risky.
I had been playing sports my whole life. Being a student athlete was a part of my identity, it was something I was proud of. After tearing my ACL three times and needing an additional fourth surgery, I could no longer play the sports that I loved. It felt like a piece of my identity had been taken away from me. I wasn’t sure where sports fit in my life anymore.
What I came to realize was that sport could still be a part of my life and a part of who I am. I pivoted into this industry because I see a unique opportunity to combine my passion for sports with my background. I am no longer just looking for the excitement of a gameday, but the underground work that goes into putting on these sporting events for the world to see, giving athletes the support and guidance they need, and creating a space for more women to enter into the sports world.
My goal is to bring my work ethic and passion for the game to a role in a marketing/promotions department for the NBA or MLB. I know this industry is competitive, but I am ready to put in the work to help an organization win off the field.
If you are currently working in sports, or are on a similar journey, I’d love to connect and learn from your experience!
